How to find winning products for dropshipping (2026)
Updated 23/09/2026 · a guide by the Kairós Sonar team
A “winning product” isn't the one with the most likes: it's the one someone is selling at a profit right now, and has been for long enough that it isn't luck. The good news: whoever makes money with a product leaves a trail in the ads. This guide teaches you to read it.
1. Start with the ads, not with “trending” lists
Everyone sees the lists of trending products at the same time. Active ads, on the other hand, show what's being bought today, who's selling it, with what offer and in which country. Every market buys in its own way: what works in one country doesn't always work in yours.
2. The five signals that matter
- Days running. An ad that has been live for 30, 60, 90 days is paying for itself. Failed tests die within days.
- Versions of the same creative. When the advertiser duplicates the ad across several ad sets, they're scaling.
- Active ads from the same page. A store with 15 or 20 ads running at once has room to test — and is testing around something that works.
- Position by impressions. The most-shown ads in a search are the ones with the most budget behind them.
- Real reach. In the European Union, each ad's reach is public, with age and gender. It tells you the scale and the audience.
3. Validate the product before you spend
Found a candidate? Before investing: open the ad's store and check the price and the offer; see if there's a supplier with stock near your customers and a reasonable delivery time; work out the margin after shipping, returns and ads; and check whether several advertisers are selling it (real demand) or just one (it may be their own brand).
4. Don't copy: study the angle
An ad's video and image belong to whoever made them. What matters is the angle: what problem it solves, which line opens the video, which offer closes the sale. Create your own creative from what you learned.
5. The most expensive mistakes
- Choosing by the number of likes instead of by days running.
- Jumping into a product with only one advertiser, who owns the brand.
- Ignoring where the ad leads: a form or WhatsApp ad sells differently from a store.
- Testing without having seen the competition's full offer.
How Kairós Sonar helps
Sonar does the heavy lifting: you type the product, it gathers the active ads in that niche and sorts them with a Strength score (0–100) that adds up the signals above. And you see the real reach of each one, by age, gender and country.
Type the product, Sonar gathers the active ads and sorts them by strength. Creating an account is free.

How long should an ad run before you consider it a winner?
There's no magic number, but more than 30 days in a row is already a strong signal, and beyond 60–90 days it's very unlikely to be a test. Always combine it with the number of versions and active ads from the same page.
